How To Monitor Social Media with Netvibes Dashboards
Aug 30th 2013, 14:17, by Netvibes

Whether you’re a multinational brand or a small startup, tracking your social presence is a round the clock job. How can you keep track of your brand, product or competitors’ social presence across multiple social platforms?

Fortunately, Netvibes offers the best tools to easily keep track on everything that’s happening out there on the social web. Today, we’ll show you how to quickly setup your dashboard to manage and post to your social media accounts–and monitor what’s being said publicly on Twitter, Facebook and Forums.

Let’s look at our top 3 Social Monitoring apps and how to use them:

1. Twitter

  • Add a Twitter app. Click on “+ Add”, go to Essentials and add the official Twitter widget to your page. Inside the widget, click on “+ Add” to link it with your Twitter account.
  • Start tweeting! Once linked, you can start using it as your main tool to communicate on Twitter: post new tweets, replies, send direct messages, etc.
  • Drag & Follow. Want to create a new widget to follow another user? Simply drag & drop its username anywhere on the page, it will automatically create a new widget with all tweets from this user. And you can do the same with any hashtag.

2. Facebook

  • Add a Facebook app. Click on “+ Add”, go to Essentials and add the official Facebook widget to your page. A new window will open asking you to link your Netvibes and Facebook accounts.
  • Start posting! Once linked, you can start using it to post on your Facebook profile: post new status, replies, view friends and groups requests, etc.
  • Drag & Follow. Just like with our Twitter app, just drag any username or hashtag to create a new app to monitor the conversation.

3. Social Search

  • Add a Social Search app. Click on “+ Add”, go to Essentials and add the Social Search widget to your page.
  • Now you can search and monitor Twitter, Facebook and Forums–all at once! Inside the widget, simply type a keyword or hashtag you want to follow.
  • Drag & Follow. Again, drag & drop a user name, page or hashtag anywhere on the dashboard to creat a new widget and start following it immediately.

Want to dig further? Just checkout the Netvibes Ecosystem. We’ve got many other social apps–including Facebook Search & Compare that allows you to keep track of multiple Facebook pages and compare their growth.

Want to go beyond monitoring? With Netvibes Premium, you can use our adaptive social analytics tools to spot real-time trends, uncover key influencers, and understand public sentiment and keyword clouds on Facebook, Twitter, forums, blogs and the entire Web. I always love comfort food like this during "cold" weather; especially winter. It is so easy to prepare by just assembling all the ingredients together on baking dish, pop them into the oven and by an hour or so everything will be ready. So all you need to do, is prepare some salad, couscous or coleslaw to go with it for a hearty weekday meal.

ROASTED LEMON AND HERBS CHICKEN WITH WINE

In this recipe I use two types of fresh herbs such as Rosemary and Oregano together with olive oil, lemon rind and juice to add in that lovely citrus taste and fragrance for this dish. To further enhance the taste, I also add in a good splash of dry white wine during the last 10 minutes of baking time.

(Serves: 2-3 | Preparation: 10 minutes | Cooking: 50 minutes)

Ingredients:
  • 3 Chicken Maryland, divide into thighs and drumsticks
  • 2 Medium Potato, cut into 1" thick slices
  • 1 Medium Carrot, cut into 1" thick slices
  • Rind of 1 Lemon, julienne
  • 1/2 Lemon, cut into wedges
  • 1/2 Lemon, juice
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 2 Sprig Fresh Rosemary
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 10g Fresh Oregano Leaves
  • 100ml Dry White Wine

Method:-
1. Preheat oven to 220°C (Degrees Celsius) and layer baking tray with foil and baking paper.

2. Rinse chicken, pat dry with kitchen paper towel. Place chicken skin-side up together with potato and carrot in singly layer on the baking tray / baking dish.

3. Mix lemon juice together with olive oil and drizzle over the chicken and potato mixture. Add remaining lemon wedges, sprinkle with herbs and fresh group pepper.

4. Roast, uncovered for 40 minutes, add wine to dish and continue to roast uncovered for another 10 minutes or until chicken is cooked.

5. When the meat is cooked through and potato is tender when test with a fork. Remove, rest for 5 minutes then sprinkle with extra fresh oregano leaves and serve with salad.

Tip:
~ Turning potato and carrot half way through baking helps to cook them evenly on both sides.

Honestly this is a beautiful dish with lot of flavour and it's so easy to prepare with simple ingredients that you can easily find in your kitchen pantry. And for someone like me who always cook Asian dishes but fancy western cuisines this dish is definitely something simple to start with. Moreover if you want to bake this for Christmas party, replace the chicken "parts" with "whole chicken" for better presentation and you can also stuffed some herbs and lemon wedges into the chicken cavity for better flavour.

How To Build The Perfect Corpus
Aug 23rd 2013, 09:29, by Netvibes

As discussed in our previous article, only Netvibes Premium lets you create as many industry or product-specific corpora (libraries of sources) as you like for accurate, noise-free, segmented results. Now you can compare overall trends versus what your specific industry or influencers are saying. Since you can add new sources or influencers as you discover them, your libraries can evolve as fast as (or even faster than) your industry does.

In this article we’ll show you how to get started quickly in minutes, then refine your corpus as you go along for better and better results.

Get Started Quickly – Build a General Corpus

blogpost_screens_wizard

  • Use our Tab Wizard to create a general corpus. Simply type a keyword and let Netvibes do the rest and populate your tab with relevant content to start things up.
  • Add Google Search & Social Search. Go to Add Content, add both apps from the Essentials selection. Create multiple ones for different terms (e.g. if you’re monitoring the sportswear industry “Air Jordan”, “Nike” and “sneakers”).

Go Further — Add a Specific Corpus

blogpost_screens_add

  • Add a Feed. Click “Add Content”, then “Feed” and enter the URL of the web site you want to track, Netvibes will usually grab the corresponding RSS feed by itself (if not, look for the RSS feed URL on the site, probably in the footer). Add any industry-specific blog (tip: try alltop.com for a list of top feeds in your category).
  • Use our Ecosystem. Go to eco.netvibes.com and browse our large apps & feeds ecosystem to find new sources relevant to you.
  • Add Influencers. Add Twitter influencers you like easily with our “drag & follow”: simply drag a user name from any Twitter timeline to create a new Twitter app and start following them right away.

Analyze and Refine — Analyze Each Corpus Separately

blogpost_screens_dragnfollow

  • Go general AND specific. Create General Analysis and Specific Analysis using two different libraries in two different tabs. This will allow you to compare public/overall trends vs. industry/influencer trends. When you create your Analysis, you can choose which Tab or Corpus you want to search.
  • Refine your library. Take your favorite feeds and influencers (the top ones from a “Who” app for instance) and add them to your Specific library as you discover them. That way your library grows more and more refined with better and better sources you trust.

Create as many different specific corpora as you want. To track your competitors, to track different sub-audiences or niche industry groups, federal regulations, analysts, etc.

And remember: Don’t limit yourself! Adding multiple sections from the same site is recommended. Your brand can be mentioned anywhere on the web. Too few results? Add more specific sources and/or general searches. Too many results? Try relying on specific sources instead of general searches.

You should now be well on your way to creating a targeted, relevant Open Corpus.
