How to Create a Brand Monitoring Dashboard
Aug 14th 2013, 13:15, by Netvibes

Last week, we showed you why Dashboards are better for client reporting and why they make happier clients while considerably lowering your work load. Today, let's dive in and explore how to create a brand monitoring dashboard from scratch using Netvibes Premium.

Step 1: Create Your Corpus

Populate it with content relevant to your brand. You can either add the content sources manually or let Netvibes Premium build an “auto-library” based on keywords of your choice. This will constitute your basic Corpus or library of sources you want to monitor and analyze. Unlike other solutions, only Netvibes lets you customize your corpus for industry-specific, noise-free results you can trust.

You can be as specific as you want with the sources you want to include. Just go to Add Content (+) > Add a Feed and enter the URL of any source you would like to add. You can also add News or Social Search from the Essential Apps category or browse from our more than 500k feeds.

Step 2: Add Analytics & Alerts

Depending on what you want to analyze or monitor, you can add Analytics or SmartFilters to the Dashboard, preferably in a new empty tab. Just click the Analytics button at the top. Analyze individual tabs or your entire Dashboard, specify keywords or SmartTags you want to monitor, and a date range. If you want to add all the different charts in one go, click the "What, How, Who, Where apps" button on the lower left.

Repeat this as many times as you want for as many different topics as you want. What do each of our analytics apps do?

  • What: See what keywords are trending and track the volume of mentions over time to gauge share of voice.
  • Who: Discover who the top influencers are—for your brand and for your competitors, too.
  • How: Understand how your brand, products or competitors are perceived, positively or negatively.
  • Where: Learn where the conversations are happening across social media, blogs, press and video channels.

Lastly, you can setup alerts to monitor your analytics automatically. Just click any chart and "Create an alert".

Step 3: Drag-and-Compare

Use our “drag-and-compare” feature to create new analytics widgets for instant comparisons and correlations. Want to compare the number of mentions for one brand versus another? Just drag the lower right corner of one chart onto another.

Want to chart and compare your own internal data? Use our brand new MisoData feature to import Excel or CSV sheets into your dashboard.

That’s it! All you have to do now is sit back, relax and enjoy your real-time monitoring, analysis and alerts.
